A Mobile Car Wash and Detailing Service Built for Terrace Streets and Two-Metre Frontages

Cars in the Inner West live a stop-start life. A vehicle parked in Balmain or Rozelle might do twelve kilometres a week and still finish the month filthy: nose-in on a hill, wedged under a fig, and coated in the fallout that drifts off Victoria Road and the City West Link every peak hour. Cars further out at Five Dock, Concord and Strathfield get the long commutes instead, and pick up highway film, tar and a sun-baked interior for their trouble. Two very different problems, one very small amount of driveway to solve them in.

Motrivo exists to fix both without costing you a Saturday. Narrow streets and shared lanes are the norm, and our setup is built for them. Instead of queuing at a wash bay on Parramatta Road or leaving the car somewhere and walking home, our detailer arrives at your address with everything the job needs. You keep working, the household keeps running, and the car gets a genuine multi-stage detail rather than a rushed rinse and a spray of gloss that lasts until the next shower.

We have worked these streets long enough to know which ones need the compact setup. We are not a franchise handing your keys to a rotating cast of contractors. The same checklist, the same machines and the same finishing products go on every car — whether it is a European hatch on a Birchgrove lane, a family SUV on a Haberfield driveway, or a work ute parked behind a Lilyfield warehouse conversion.

A typical morning: the van at the kerb, your frontage or garage, a tap and a power point, and a car that holds its finish through weeks of street parking.
What We Do

Interior Detailing, Fallout Decontamination and Sealant Protection

Every booking is a full detail, not a wash-and-go. Here is exactly what happens at your kerb, driveway or garage.

Interior Car Detailing and Hot-Water Extraction

A full vacuum including under the seats and along every rail, hot-water extraction on carpets and cloth seats where they need it, leather cleaned and conditioned, vents and console detailed with brushes, and glass finished streak-free. Dog hair from the Callan Park and Bicentennial Park walks, coffee rings from the commute, kid crumbs in the second row and the damp smell a car picks up sitting in an unventilated rear lane garage are all standard work here — never billed as surprise extras.

Exterior Wash, Brake Dust and Fallout Decontamination

Pre-rinse, a snow foam dwell to float off road film, a safe two-bucket contact wash with fresh mitts, wheels and arches cleaned with dedicated tools, then tar, sap, bird etching and iron fallout removed properly. Signature Plus adds a clay bar stage so the paint is glass-smooth before protection goes on. Door shuts, sills and fuel flaps get their own pass, because grit and dust collect there first on cars that spend their week parked at the kerb.

Paint Protection and Sealant for Street-Parked Cars

A hydrophobic sealant that beads hard, sheds sap and bird mess far more easily, and makes the next few weeks of kerbside parking much less punishing. If your car sleeps under a street tree in Annandale or Leichhardt, protection is not a luxury — it is the difference between wiping a dropping off and paying to polish an etch out. We finish tyres, trim and exterior plastics so the whole car reads as maintained rather than merely washed.

Pre-Sale, Fleet and Small-Business Vehicle Presentation

Selling privately, handing back a lease, or keeping a trade ute and signage looking sharp across the light-industrial pockets of Lilyfield, Rozelle and North Strathfield. We prepare cars for photography, dealer appraisals and inspections, and run scheduled details for small fleets. A decontaminated, sealed car photographs sharper, holds attention on a listing longer, and reads as a car that has been looked after rather than merely driven.

Car Detailing Prices Across Balmain, Drummoyne and Concord

Two straightforward detailing packages, no vehicle-size loading and no travel fee anywhere between Birchgrove and Strathfield. The Signature Detail is $299 and covers a complete interior and exterior detail in roughly 3 to 4 hours. Signature Plus is $429 and adds clay bar decontamination, engine bay cleaning, a hydrophobic sealant and an ozone odour treatment across 5 to 6 hours. Elite Correction, our multi-stage paint correction package, is available on request for cars that need swirls and holograms cut out properly rather than filled and hidden for a fortnight.

The Process

How Our Inner West Mobile Detailing Booking Works

Four steps anywhere from Birchgrove to Strathfield: no drop-off, no waiting room, no surprises.

01

Tell us your street and your car

Book online or call 0461 486 126. We only need the suburb, the type of vehicle and whether the space is covered. A one-way Balmain East lane, a Breakfast Point basement and a wide Concord driveway are each planned differently before we load the van.

02

We arrive with the full kit

The van carries every product, machine and tool the job needs. All we ask for is access to a water source and a power point at your place, plus roughly one car length of clearance so we can work the whole way around the vehicle without stepping into traffic.

03

The detail runs start to finish

Decontamination first, then paint, then interior, then protection and finishing. Nothing is skipped to hit a time slot, and on the exposed, sun-hit frontages around Five Dock and Russell Lea we work panel by panel so nothing dries before it is wiped.

04

Walkaround, then you pay

We hand the car back, walk around it with you in daylight, and only then take payment. No deposit is taken when you book, and there is no cancellation fee if the weather turns on us.

Local Knowledge

Brake Dust, Fig Drop and River Air: What Inner West Parking Does to Paint

A section you will not find on any of our other pages, because these four problems belong to these twenty suburbs.

Arterial road fallout: Victoria Road, Parramatta Road and City West Link

Three of Sydney's busiest corridors cut straight through the Inner West, and the cars parked within a block of them wear the evidence. Brake dust is iron-rich, so it embeds in clear coat and turns rusty-orange under a magnifier long before you can see it with the naked eye. Add diesel soot and tyre particulate and you get the grey haze that reappears on a white bonnet at Leichhardt or Annandale two days after a wash. No amount of shampoo shifts it. It takes a dedicated fallout stage, then a clay bar, then a sealant to slow the next round down.

Fig, plane and jacaranda drop over terrace parking

The street planting through Annandale, Haberfield, Concord and Strathfield is one of the best things about living in the Inner West and one of the worst things that can happen to paint. Moreton Bay figs drop fruit that stains light panels within hours, plane trees shed an itchy fuzz that packs into vents and window channels, and jacarandas glue their flowers to warm bonnets for weeks every spring. All of it needs chemical lifting rather than scrubbing, and a clay bar afterwards if the car has worn a whole season of it.

River air at Drummoyne, Chiswick and Abbotsford

The Parramatta River frontage changes the job. Cars at Chiswick, Abbotsford, Rodd Point, Russell Lea and Breakfast Point sit in air that carries a light salt load off the water, which settles on roofs and boot lids overnight and quietly works on window rubbers, brightwork and wheel faces. It is milder than open-coast exposure but relentless, and on a car that only moves at weekends it bakes on. Neutralise it, then seal over it, and the same car stays glossy for months instead of weeks.

Sandstone dust, renovations and rear-lane grit

The Inner West is one of the most heavily renovated parts of Sydney. There is almost always a skip, a scaffold or a sandstone cut happening within a few streets of Balmain, Rozelle, Lilyfield and Birchgrove, and the fine masonry dust that drifts off those sites is abrasive. Wiped dry with a chamois it will scratch paint immediately. That is exactly why we never touch a dry panel — every car gets a full pre-rinse and foam dwell before a mitt goes anywhere near it.

Local Guide

Six Kinds of Parking Space We Detail Across These Suburbs

Almost every Inner West car sleeps in one of these six spaces, and knowing which one tells us what to bring and how long to allow.

The two-metre terrace frontage

Balmain, Birchgrove, Balmain East and parts of Rozelle have houses that meet the footpath with a strip of tile or a hedge and nothing else. The car lives on the street out front, often on a slope. We chock the wheels, work from the high side so runoff never crosses a finished panel, lay the gear tight against the kerb and keep the path clear. The finish is identical to a driveway job — only the choreography changes.

The rear-lane garage

Behind Balmain, Rozelle, Annandale and Leichhardt runs a whole second network of lanes with single-car garages, most of them built for a 1960s sedan and now housing a modern SUV. Clearance is the constraint. We often reverse the car half out into the lane to gain working room, then move it back under cover for the sealant stage. Tell us if the lane is one-way or narrow and we will bring the smaller setup.

The Federation driveway

Haberfield, Concord, Strathfield and North Strathfield give us proper room: a wide concrete or tessellated drive, a garage set back from the house, and a garden tap where you would expect one. These are our favourite multi-car days, because we can set up once and work through two or three vehicles without repacking the van between them.

The riverside apartment basement

Breakfast Point, Drummoyne, Rhodes-facing Canada Bay and the newer blocks at Wareemba mean plenty of cars live underground. Basements keep sun off the paint and airflow away from the interior, so we see stale cabin smells and condensation more often here. Leave the keys at reception or in a lockbox, tell us the bay number, and confirm whether the building wants strata approval for contractors.

The shared visitor bay and villa complex

Townhouse and villa complexes through Five Dock, Russell Lea, Chiswick and Canada Bay usually have a common tap and a visitor bay we can use, but the rules vary building to building. A quick word with the strata manager the week before removes the only real risk of a wasted trip, and once you are approved, repeat bookings are effortless.

The workplace and light-industrial yard

The commercial strips along Parramatta Road, the warehouse conversions at Lilyfield and North Strathfield and the office parks near Concord mean many cars sit in the same bay from nine to five. Leave the keys with reception, confirm a tap and power point are reachable, and the car is finished before you head home. Weekday afternoons are usually our most open windows for exactly this kind of booking.

Mobile car detailing near me — what that means street by street

“Near me” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in most searches. In practice, detailing a commuter hatch on a Balmain hill is a completely different job to detailing a family 4WD on a Concord driveway, or a leased European sedan in a Breakfast Point basement. Geography matters too: Birchgrove and Strathfield are barely twelve kilometres apart, but the drive between them at 8am is nothing like the drive at 11am, which is why we schedule by pocket rather than first-come-first-served.

We plan for those differences before we arrive, and every Inner West booking is scheduled with the street in mind, and that is the practical gap between a genuinely local operator working these streets every week and a city-wide service that treats every postcode the same.

Mobile car detailing near the peninsula and the river, six days a week

Weekday mornings are usually wide open across the Balmain peninsula, weekday afternoons suit workplace and basement bookings around Lilyfield, North Strathfield and Concord, and Saturdays fill first with family cars from Haberfield, Five Dock, Drummoyne and Strathfield. If you have a preferred window, book it a few days out and it is yours.

Don’t Just Take Our Word for It…

See What Our Customers Have to Say!

Why Locals Choose a Fully Mobile Detailer in the Inner West

The obvious reason is time, and in the Inner West time means traffic and parking. A proper detail is three to six hours of work, and nobody wants to add a crawl down Parramatta Road to that, then find somewhere to leave the car and organise a lift home. When we come to you, those hours cost you nothing — you work, you take a call, you walk down to the ferry wharf at Balmain East or Chiswick, and the car is finished when you next see it.

The less obvious reason is quality control. In your own driveway or at your own kerb you can see every stage. You watch the foam go on, you see the brake dust bleed off the wheels, and at the end we walk around the car together in natural daylight before any money changes hands. Nothing happens behind a roller door, and no upsell gets sprung on you at a counter.

Then there is the pricing. Most detailers load their price by vehicle size, so the family seven-seater costs a third more than the hatch. We charge $299 flat, whether it is a small commuter at Wareemba or a big 4WD at Strathfield. Combined with no deposit and payment only after the walkaround, there is very little left to think about.

It also helps that we know the Inner West properly. A detailer who understands that a car parked under a fig in Annandale needs a different plan to one that never leaves a Breakfast Point basement brings the right consumables the first time, and that is the quiet advantage of booking someone who works these streets every week rather than passing through on the way somewhere else.

Car detailing Balmain, Leichhardt and Strathfield — three very different jobs

A Balmain, Birchgrove or Rozelle car is usually a low-kilometre second vehicle that lives on the street: light on mileage, heavy on tree drop, bird mess and the sandstone dust of whatever renovation is happening two doors down. A Leichhardt, Annandale or Lilyfield car is the daily driver of a household with no off-street parking at all, which means arterial fallout on the front end and a cabin that never quite dries out in winter. A Strathfield, Concord or Five Dock car tends to be a family vehicle on a real driveway, doing school runs and long commutes, where interior wear, sun on the roofline and highway tar matter far more than tree cover.

Booking the same package in all three gets you the same checklist with a different emphasis, and that is deliberate. Tell us which of the three your car is closest to and we will load the van accordingly.

Inner West mobile detailing for fleets, company cars and pre-sale details

We also handle small fleets, trade utes, company cars and pre-sale presentation details from Birchgrove through to Concord. For businesses running vehicles out of the Rozelle, Lilyfield and North Strathfield light-industrial pockets, a scheduled detail cycle keeps interiors liveable, signage looking newer and the cars presentable in front of clients. If you are selling privately, a Signature Plus before the photographer arrives routinely pays for itself several times over — a decontaminated, sealed car photographs sharper and holds a buyer’s attention on a listing far longer than a rinsed one. And for the trades working across Haberfield, Five Dock and Canada Bay, a regular interior reset makes the truck a far better place to spend a ten-hour day.

FAQ

Inner West Mobile Detailing Questions, Answered

How much does mobile car detailing cost in this part of Sydney?+

The Motrivo Signature Detail is a flat $299 no matter what you drive. A small hatch squeezed onto a Balmain terrace frontage, a family wagon on a Haberfield driveway and a large 4WD in a Strathfield garage all pay exactly the same — no vehicle-size loading, no travel surcharge between Birchgrove and Concord, and no card fee. Signature Plus is $429 and adds clay bar decontamination, engine bay cleaning, a hydrophobic paint sealant and an ozone odour treatment. You pay after the service, once we have walked around the car together in daylight.

Do you come to my terrace, unit block or workplace?+

Every booking is mobile — we come to you. That might be a driveway at Russell Lea, a rear lane garage in Rozelle, a basement bay in a Breakfast Point apartment or a staff car park in Strathfield. We need access to a tap and a power point at the location, which is worth checking around the older terraces at Balmain East and Annandale where the only tap can be in a back courtyard. Tell us and we bring longer leads and hose.

How long does a detail take?+

The Signature Detail runs roughly 3 to 4 hours. Signature Plus is closer to 5 to 6 hours because of the decontamination and sealant stages. Elite Correction, our multi-stage paint correction, is a full-day booking. Cars that live near the water at Chiswick, Abbotsford, Rodd Point and Birchgrove often carry a salt-and-fallout film that adds a little time, and we tell you that before we start rather than after the invoice.

What if it rains on the day?+

If you have a garage, carport or basement bay we work straight through. If the car sits on an open frontage in Leichhardt or Lilyfield and the weather turns, we call you that morning and move you to the next available slot at no cost. There is no deposit and no cancellation fee, so a rescheduled day costs you nothing but a change of plan.

Can you remove tree sap, brake dust and bird mess?+

Yes, and it is most of what we deal with here. The fig, plane and jacaranda planting through Annandale, Haberfield and Concord drops sap, seed and flower onto warm paint for weeks at a time, the traffic along Parramatta Road and City West Link coats front ends in iron-rich brake dust, and street parking under a canopy means constant bird droppings that etch clear coat within a day or two in summer. We lift all of it chemically, add a clay bar stage on Signature Plus, then seal the paint so the next round sits on the coating rather than the panel.

Can you work in tight terrace streets and narrow lanes?+

Constantly — it is the defining challenge of detailing in this area. Balmain, Birchgrove, Rozelle and Annandale have streets where the car sits nose-to-tail on a hill with barely a metre of clearance. We park the van where it does not block the road, run our leads neatly along the kerb, work one side at a time and keep the footpath clear for prams and pedestrians. If you can get a resident bay or a spot in the rear lane for the morning, even better.

Which suburbs do you cover?+

Birchgrove, Balmain, Balmain East, Rozelle, Annandale, Leichhardt, Lilyfield, Abbotsford, Wareemba, Rodd Point, Russell Lea, Drummoyne, Chiswick, Breakfast Point, Canada Bay, Five Dock, Haberfield, Strathfield, North Strathfield and Concord. One flat price applies to all twenty, with no travel fee between any two of them.

Do I need to supply water and power?+

Yes. We need a water source and a power point at your location so the detail is done safely and to the standard we promise. In the Federation homes around Haberfield and Concord that is usually a garden tap and a garage GPO; in the workers' cottages of Leichhardt and Lilyfield it can be a courtyard tap out the back. Both are perfectly workable — we just want to know before we arrive so the setup is planned.

Can you detail two cars in the same visit?+

Yes, and it is an efficient way to book. Two-car households across Five Dock, Concord, Strathfield and Drummoyne often run back-to-back details on the same day, which saves a second morning and lets us set up once. Tell us how many vehicles and what they are so we can allocate the right window.

Is a mobile detail as good as a workshop detail?+

The van carries the same machines, pads, compounds, extractors and sealants a fixed workshop uses — the difference is the address, not the standard. The one thing a workshop has is a roof, which is why we ask about covered space when you book. What you get in return is watching every stage happen at home and paying only once you are genuinely happy with the car.

How do I book a detail?+

Book online through our booking page, call 0461 486 126, or email contact@motrivo.com.au. There is no deposit — you pay after the service once you have inspected the car. Saturday mornings around Balmain, Drummoyne and Five Dock fill first, so a few days' notice helps us hold the window you actually want.
